HOW CAN I HELP?

Volunteers make a difference and are an invaluable part of the Grace Hospital team.

Our family of volunteers at The Grace can be found working in virtually every area of the hospital. They unselfishly share their time, skills and talents with enthusiasm and a spirit of good will. Volunteers are an indispensable link to our community.

As a volunteer, you may devote as much or as little time as you feel comfortable. Most volunteer shifts last four hours but there is a great deal of flexibility in most areas.

The type of volunteer work you decide to do depends on both your personal likes and positions available. With our flexible scheduling system, you are sure to find a place to fit your availability. Working hours vary according to the department; some start at 7:30 a.m. while others run evenings or weekends.

At The Grace, volunteers work in:

• Admitting
• Diagnostic Imaging (x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound & nuclear medicine)
• Emergency
• Hospice
• Library
• Meals on Wheels
• Occupational Therapy
• Orthopedic Clinic
• Oncology
• Spiritual Care and Bereavement Support
• Pharmacy
• Physiotherapy
• Pre-op and Recovery Rooms
• Gift Shop
• Muffin Stop

All volunteers are given complete orientation and training. You are not left on your own until you are absolutely confident that you can carry out the tasks for which you are volunteering.

Volunteers enjoy many rewards. There is a sense of accomplishment with an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and make an invaluable contribution to the community. As well, you are invited to attend Auxiliary General Meetings, Volunteer Recognition Week, Christmas dinner and other hospital functions.
