You can expect your health care team to:

• Provide an environment that is clean, safe, welcoming and free of discrimination
• Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and sensitivity to patients, family and visitors
• Involve you, or if unable, your family or proxy, in assessment, planning and delivery of care, respecting and incorporating as able, your opinions concerns and choices
• Provide you or an identified person of your choice with timely, relevant, understandable, honest information and offer you opportunities for choice
• Provide comprehensive needed or chosen care in a caring, competent, and confidential manner.

Our expectation of you and your family is that you will:

• Respect the privacy, rights, individuality and property of other patients and the health care team
• Demonstrate respect and courtesy to staff and be considerate of their work demands
• Tell us how involved you wish to be in your care and what concerns and choices you want considered in the planning of that care
• Ask for information and clarification that will help you and/or the person of your choice make decisions, accepting that these choices will enhance or limit the outcome of care
• Follow the agreed upon treatment plan to the best of your ability
• Tell us your expectations of care and of the health care team, recognizing the limitations of available health care resources
• Tell us how your hospital experience has been for you and how we can improve.
